The Psalmist declared;
“He has not dealt with us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 103: 10-14 NKJV).
O’ praise the Lord for His mercy towards us. Romans 3:23 declares that we all have sinned. There has only been one perfect, sinless man to ever walk this soil, the God-man Jesus, and they hung Him on the cross. You and I are not perfect, we are not sinless, but He is. God could deal harshly with us due to our sins, and yet, He has chosen to extend to us Mercy! Just think about it, the sinless Son of God left the glory of Heaven with the praises of the angels to come to this earth and to take our sins and nail them to His cross (Colossians 2:14). When we receive Christ as our Lord, we receive peace with God (Romans 5:1).
Dr. Adrian Rogers once said that man only has 3 problems; Sin, Sorrow and Death. And in Christ, all three are defeated and we receive the victory.
· Victory over Sin: “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7 NKJV).
· Victory over Sorrow: “…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 NKJV).
· Victory over Death: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” ( Philippians 1:21 NIV).
o “ We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8 NKJV).
o “…Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:54 KJV).
Priase God who gives us mercy and victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
