I'm sure you have heard his story by now. The homeless man who became an overnight internet sensation. A true, "Rags to Riches" story. Ted Williams, an out of work, ex-radio personality is now the most wanted voice in radio and television. Sadly, in the past few days he has admitted going back to alcohol abuse and is now off to rehab. When you watch the videos of Ted, you can't help but pull for him. His, is a wonderful story of grace and second chances. We should each pray for him to be delievered from the demon of alcohol.
Although, Ted is getting all the media attention, this story would not have been possible had it not been for the Website designer from the Columbus Dispatch who placed the initial video of Ted on Youtube. As the story goes, the web designer was with his family on their way to Church when they saw Ted asking for money on the side of the road. He stopped his vehicle and handed him $20.00. One week later, he came back and videoed Ted and the rest is history. What a great story! A man, on his way to church, surrenders to the leading of the Holy Spirit to reach out to someone in need and God gives a man a second chance!
When you read Acts chapter 2, you find the account of when God poured out His Spirit upon His followers. I love the beginning of verse 2, "...and suddenly..." That's how the Holy Spirit comes upon us some times, "suddenly." You and I don't know what God has in store for us each morning as we roll out of bed, but if we will surrender our lives to the power of the Holy Spirit, He may just come upon us "suddenly" and use us to make a difference in someone's life! Who knows, you may be the one to touch the life of the next "Ted Williams."
