"New" things...

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

I have to admit it. I like the word, “new.” There is just something about “new.” New day, new clothes, new cars, new people, new places, new, new, new. There is something cool about “new.”

Right now, my family and I are experiencing a lot of “new” things. Some of them are more enjoyable than others, but still they are “new” things. This year we live in a “new” state, in a “new” city. I am pastoring a “new” church. We are making “new” friends (and we get to keep the old ones too!). This week my wife started teaching at a “new” school. My youngest daughter had a “new” experience as she started Kindergarten. My middle daughter is now driving an automobile, which is very “new” for me and her mom!

There is a lot of “new” things happening and not just for our family. Yesterday I held in my arms a precious “new” baby girl born to a precious young couple in our congregation. Looking in the eyes of that sweet, innocent baby, I can’t help but be reminded of the love God has for us. When we place our faith and trust in Jesus as our Savior the Bible says we become a brand new creation in the eyes of God. We become as clean to God as that adorable baby that I held. In Christ, we become “new.” That’s good news!

Not only do we become “new” when we receive Christ as our Savior, but life itself becomes “new.” Think about it. Here are some benefits to following Christ.
• Clear Conscience Romans 8:1
• Purpose Romans 8:28
• Power and Strength Philippians 4:13
• Life and Peace Romans 8:6
• Confidence Romans 8:31
• Fulfillment Philippians 4:19
• Help with Weakness Romans 8:26
• Security Romans 8:39
• Freedom John 8:32, 36

I have to admit, I like the word “new.” Don't you?
