Sweet Sound

What sounds do you love to hear? Personally, I love to hear birds chirping on a relaxing Saturday morning, crickets on a cool Spring evening, the harmony of a choir, Bible pages turning in Church, my wife and children saying, "I love you." These are sounds that I love to hear.

Recently, I heard a sound that I believe God loves to hear. I was sitting in the bleachers of a large youth outreach event called Fields of Faith. Hundreds of teenagers had been singing praises to God. Multiple High School and College students walked up to the microphone and shared their stories of how they came to faith in Jesus. These were wonderful sounds. These were sounds that I am sure our Heavenly Father greatly enjoyed, but I don't believe they were the sweetest sound that night.

It was at the end of the service. It was when the guest preacher asked everyone to bow their heads and close their eyes. That's when it happened. The challenge was issued, "If you want to receive Christ by faith, come down on the floor." I sat there with my eyes closed and my hands grasped in prayer at my chin, that's when I heard it. Feet. One after the other. I heard them to my left. Then, I heard them to my right. I heard them on both sides of me. All headed in the same direction. One pair of feet after the other pouncing down the steps and onto the floor. Each pair of feet representing a life committing itself to Christ the King.

Is there a sweeter sound to the ears of the Father than the sound of a heart committing to Christ? I don't think so either. How about you? Have you taken the stroll? The stroll of faith?
