Friend,
Have you ever seen another person? I mean, have you ever really seen them? The Bible teaches that since the fall of mankind into sin in the Garden of Eden, all of creation has been under the curse of sin. Adam and Eve, the first couple, were created in the likeness and image of God. But after their sin, they were put under the curse. We are not in the likeness of God; we are in the likeness of Adam. So, back to my question, Have you ever seen another person? You have, but only the distorted version.
Revelation 22:3 says that in Heaven, the curse will be removed. For the first time, we will truly see one another as God originally intended, not in the image of Adam, but in the image God intended. How wonderful that will be. The late, great pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, TX was once asked, “Dr. Criswell, will we know each other in heaven?” Dr. Criswell answered, “We won’t really know each other until we get to heaven.” What a great answer!
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth these words of joyful anticipation, “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Cor. 15: 51-52 - NKJV).
The day is coming that the Lord will have the trumpet to sound and He will call all of His children to their heavenly home. At that moment we will be changed! What will that change be like you ask? Philippians 3:20-21 says, “…we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body…”
O’ what a magnificent promise! My heart cries out with the words of the hymn writer, What a day that shall be!
